Nico & Vali Italian Eatery is located on Wing Street in downtown Plymouth. Owners Paul and Silvia DePalma, have done a fantastic job designing their building with both indoor and outdoor seating. They offer a wide variety of food including freshly prepared items for dining it or taking out. The menu offers traditional Italian dishes made fresh, using authentic Italian cooking methods.
Open for breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week (9AM – 3PM on Sunday), Nico & Vali serve a first-rate Italian breakfast highlighted by the panzerotti (served with fresh fruit) and a strawberry mascarpone crepe. Other menu items include the breakfast Panini, 3 different Frittatas ( all include hash browns and toast).
For lunch and dinner you will find a variety of items starting with numerous deli sandwiches like their Ruben and corned beef sandwiches to the burgers and 15 different Panini options. You can also get pizza by the slice for $1.95 or an entire pan for $9.95. The menu also offers you the option to try some of the traditional family entrees like the Butternut Squash Ravioli, Veal or Chicken Parmiggiana and Gnocchi. I always find that lunch is never long enough to get a good meal and have the time to enjoy it. So I decided to put together a list of 5 places around Metro Detroit that serve up a fast and good lunch. Of course they also have good lunch specials as well.
Sahara Restaurant in Warren and St. Clair Shores – Sahara Restaurant in Warren has only been open for a few months now but they are making a good impression in the Warren area, while the St. Clair Shores location has been open for decades. The service is good and the food comes out fast – the Lunch Special is from 11AM – 2PM. Every day you get any sandwich + 1/2 salad or cup of soup and a soft drink for $7.99 (fattoush, tabbouleh and Sahara salad are upgraded for a dollar extra as a salad.)
G.Subu’s Leather Bottle is located on Middlebelt Road in Livonia south of Eight Mile Road. A longtime staple in Livonia, G. Subu’s Leather Bottle serves a quick and hearty lunch special. Monday through Friday from 11AM – 3PM you can get a half sandwich with side salad or a cup of Soup Du Jour only 6.99. Choose one of the following: Roast Turkey, Dearborn Sausage Ham, Tuna, BLT, or Marinated Chicken.
E.G. Nick’s in Downtown Plymouth – The nice thing about E.G. Nick’s in Plymouth is the parking right behind the restaurant. This makes it easy to get in and out of the Downtown area quickly. Get their $1.95 Prime Rib Sliders every Monday for lunch. You WON’T be disappointed!
American Coney Island in Downtown Detroit has been around since 1917 and the food is still as good as ever. Although they don’t have a lunch special per say you can get a Coney, Fries and Pop for $5.90. The best part? You can be in and out in 15 minutes!
Eclipse Burgers in Sterling Heights offers up one of the best burgers in Macomb County. The service is great and the hamburger is fantastic. I would, however, call in my order ahead of time because they are quite busy during lunch. After you eat there you will see why. The special is every day from 10AM – 3PM where you get any burger or sandwich with fries and pop – $8.99.
